Paramedics and LAPD responding to a 911 call for shots fired found the decedent unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of an apartment complex off North Hobart Road in Hollywood... 

He was pronounced deceased at the scene..

One of the nine Chinese nationals being held for a $35,000 ransom in a Monterey Park home allegedly shot & killed one of his captors wounded another & fled with two others...

This was at 514 Casuda Canyon in Monterey Park California on 6-4-1996..

The men who ranged in age from 21 to 45 had been kept for up to three months in a single-family home that contains New Chinatown...

The immigrants allegedly were smuggled into the country and held for ransom at a Casuda Canyon Road home...

It was estimated from the Partial Skeletal Remains that John Does age could be 26 to 32 years old & that the date of Death could be late 1980 to 1982...

John Doe's Cause of Death could be Suicide or homicide by gunshot...

In 1997 landowners surveying their property lines on Mount Veeder discovered the victim's partial skeletal in a remote area....

The skull a foot still inside a weatherbeaten sock & several other bones & fragments were found...

The bullet hole in the right temple of the skull was made by a .22-caliber Ruger handgun...

Authorities are not sure if it was self-inflicted or homicide....

John Doe likely was not a transient...

Law enforcement nicknamed the man "The Mt. Veender Man."
